The inability to access satellite-based global positioning data in underground environments has created many challenges for the mining sector, particularly in terms of miners' safety, materials tracking, fleet management, autonomous-truck deployment and drill automation. Our SMALMAP-based products provide the capability of GPS within the underground mining and similar GPS-denied environments through the power of real-time sensor fusion and multi-agent networking. With simultaneous receivers and mappers mounted directly to existing vehicles and carried as portable units by personnel, SMALMAP products provides underground GPS capabilities that enable exact positioning for engineers, workers, equipment, and vehicles.
Each SMALMAP receiver can attach to existing vehicles and can be carried as a portable unit by a single employee. Each unit acts as a modular agent within the SMALMAP network that provides continuous feedback.
SMALMAP operates in conjuction with a base station in real-time, closing the loop between multiple agents simulatenously across the entire SMALMAP network. Positioning and mapping information can be archived for later use.
High level management software allows for centralized positioning of all assets within the SMALMAP network. Continuously updated mapping provides immediately actionable results to enable higher efficiency and safety.
All SMALMAP products provide positioning at a level comparable to traditional satellite-based GPS such that all the benefits of global positioning can be realized in underground and similar GPS-denied environments.
